Type of medical incident


Heart attack

  • If minor or uncomplicated you can fly after 7 days.

  • Consult a medical practitioner before flying after a major or complicated heart attack.

  • Fit-to-fly medical certificate is required to fly.

Stroke

  • After 10 days.

  • Medical certificate is required to fly within 11 and 21 days following a stroke.

Pneumothorax

  • When the chest has been drained and the lung has fully expanded (usually 14 days).

  • Must travel with a companion.

  • Fit-to-fly medical certificate required.

 Penetrating eye injury

7 days
