# Sports Equipment

Bring your sports equipment along and keep active during your trip. Here’s everything you need to know before heading to the airport.

### Sports Equipment

Sports equipment includes items such as golf equipment, fishing rods, skis, snowboards, diving equipment and kite equipment. 

**Sports equipment cannot be accepted as regular checked baggage and must be booked as Special Baggage.** Only equipment directly related to the sport may be packed inside the sports equipment bag. Sportswear and clothing must be packed within the passenger’s regular baggage allowance.

**Sports weapons and sports ammunition are not permitted on any flight.**

Please be informed that ice skates and roller skates are not classified as sports equipment. Roller skates may be transported in either carry-on or checked baggage, while ice skates must be transported in checked baggage due to the sharp blades, blade covers or protective wrapping are required.

### Bicycle Transportation

Non-motorized bicycles, including tandems, are accepted as Special Baggage. **Electric kick bikes and e-bikes contain dangerous goods and are not permitted on flights under any circumstances.**

Before check-in, bicycles must be prepared as follows:

*   Handlebars turned in line with the frame, pedals removed or secured, gears wrapped for protection, tires partially deflated, mudguards removed or protected
*   Loose items such as pumps, lights, and water bottles securely attached or packed separately within the regular baggage allowance
*   Bicycles should be packed in a hard case or a box intended for bicycle transport.

### Size and Weight Restrictions

Sports equipment may weigh up to 23 kg / 50 lbs.

Make sure your equipment does not exceed 250 × 79 × 112 cm / 98 × 31 × 44 in (L × W × H). Please check the service fees for applicable costs. No item may exceed total dimensions of 320 cm / 126 in (L + W + H). For items larger than 250 cm / 98 in (L + W + H), passengers must contact the Customer Care Team no later than 48 hours before departure to request acceptance.

### Purchasing Special Baggage

Special Baggage may be purchased either:

*   Online through “Your Trips” section or
*   At the airport during check-in (higher fees apply)

Passengers traveling with sports equipment are recommended to arrive well in advance of departure to allow sufficient time for baggage processing. Check-in counters open 4 hours before departure and close 1 hour before departure, unless otherwise advised.
