Infectious Diseases

You will not be able to fly with severe infectious diseases like tuberculosis, pneumonia or severe respiratory infections. When suffering from meningitis or a virus from a pandemic like SARS or H1N1 (“Swine Flu”) you will not be able to travel unless being certified to do so by a doctor.  


When having minor infectious diseases including the above conditions is allowed to fly by following the guidelines below:

Permitted to travel

Rubella

4 days after the appearance of the rash

Measles

7 days after the appearance of the rash

Mumps

When all swelling has subsided (usually after 7 days)

Chicken pox

7 days after the appearance of the last new spot

Viral infections (e.g. seasonal flu)

When no longer contagious
